Welcome to the East Valley SELPA
The mission of the East Valley Special Education Local Plan Area (EV SELPA)is to ensure the provision of quality education that recognizes, respects and meets the individual needs of a diverse student population. In support of this commitment, well-trained staff members are dedicated to working in partnership with schools, families and the community toward the goal of helping all students become successful members of society and encouraging learning as an unlimited, life-long process.
The EV SELPA is a consortium of participating school districts formed for the purpose of ensuring that quality special education programs and services are available throughout the region to meet the individual needs of special education students. Member districts include Colton Joint Unified, Redlands Unified, Rialto Unified, Rim of the World Unified, Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified, and the East Valley Operation Programs of San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools. A Board of Directors made up of the superintendents of each participating school district and chaired by the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools governs the EV SELPA.
As a support and oversight office, the goal of the EV SELPA is to coordinate services to member districts so that students with disabilities from birth to age 22 years have equal educational opportuniies in the most effective, efficient, and cost effective manner practical. The EV SELPA ensures that its member districts implement the legal requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and is the regional link between member districts and the California Department of Education (CDE).
